SavingFood on social innovation at the StartUp Europe Week 2018

The SavingFood project was presented at the Startup Europe Week in Thessaloniki on the 9th of March 2018 by ViLabs, the coordinator of the SavingFood project.

The event took place in the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki on the 9th of March 2018, as part of an extensive series of events; the “StartUp Europe Week”, under the StartUp Europe Initiative (http://startupeuropeclub.eu/), taking place in more than 300 European cities. The event was structured under three thematics of interest, one of which was the “Innovation and Social Purpose” for startups and the impact of European Projects to the society in general but also to other kinds of emerging businesses as Startups concerning the issue of social innovation projects. Knowledge derived from European initiatives and exploitation of this knowledge for building and sustaining either a startup or an organisation under the umbrella of social innovation.

ViLabs presented the narrative of the project and the novel approach to eliminate food waste, the means to do this while at the same time support the local community and people in need via the use of innovative ways.

After presenting the project and the actual change it has induced, it has been asked by all the attendees to sign the SavingFood pledge and support the goals of the project. Policy officials, ambassadors of European and not countries as well as Members of the European parliament attended our event and learnt all about the SavingFood project.
